But Let's Not Talk about Fare-Thee-Wells Now

***WARNING: This entire post contains pictures I've already posted. Sorry to bore you all over again!***

1. Moving
At some point, I will address the fact that HOLY COW I AM MOVING ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO ARIZONA to work with Americorps for one whole year. But right now, I'm going to talk about how

2. my blog gets really random hits all the time because of pictures of cakes I've made.
I guess people do Google searches for "rainbow cake" sometimes, and this entry pops up because I link to my rainbow cake in it. And for some reason, other people go to this entry because I have a basket cake on there. You probably think I'm exaggerating--

-Today, I had five page views.
-Yesterday, I had 17.
-Since I started this blog, I have had 23 views from Denmark and 108 from Germany.

Okay, so to any big-time blogger, that's not even a day's work. But for me, that's kind of weird. I mean, this is just my personal blog. I didn't ever intend to have complete strangers read it. (Oh, the internet and its lack of privacy.) It's not that I mind these views. The problem is that I'm vain and sad that I only ever have pictures when the food I make looks bad.

Seriously. I've had comments on those posts that are like, "Great work! But next time try..." or "Cool, but you should work on..." Hey. HEY. These were, like, the first cakes I ever made. Ever. EVER. Hear that? I was brand new to decorating. I don't have artistic talent; I can't even draw a star free-hand. I can admit that there are parts of the cakes that need improvements (the rainbow cake was pretty much a disaster all around; the only improvement was eating it), but I've done some good work since then.

Except I never have a camera when I make pretty foods.

The best I can show you is the cookies I made for Steph's wedding, which I'll repost just to prove that I can sometime do things right:

And okay, those still aren't perfect, but they were my best cookies to date.

I made mini pumpkin pies around Thanksgiving, when I wanted to use up some leftover condensed milk, but naturally they came out looking terrible (but tasting great, everyone said):

And then there were my Christmas cookies, butI didn't have a camera except for the one on my phone, and I only managed to get a very blurry picture (minus the reindeer, because everyone ate them before the picture) and it doesn't show off the cute sprinkles (that I attached using meringue powder dissolved in water, and boy was I proud of myself for that little trick) or how smooth the icing came out, and besides these were the rejects that I didn't give out and kept for my family:

3. But the good news!
My dad got me a new camera for Christmas, so hopefully now I can take pictures of the foods I make. They'll still probably be bad pictures; after all, it's just a point-and-shoot (though a very nice one), and I don't know anything about lighting and angles and blahdee blah blah.

I don't know how often I'll be baking once I move to Arizona; Americorps isn't exactly a high-rolling job (it's not a job at all, in fact, but service), but we'll see what I can do. I spent tonight sorting through my college boxes deciding what to ship out there and what to toss/donate, and all of my cooking stuff definitely needs to come with. Now I just have to decide on everything else I have... when on Earth did I accumulate so many things?!
